CHURCH TO CHURCH ROUTE – AS USED BY GIAAC.

This route has been listed at the request of a few runners.

The course uses road names as listed in Perry's Guide Maps.

Some mile points are indicated – where this is a relatively simple landmark nearby - but those without clear marker are not shown. The Sarnia Walking Club to their credit do keep the route well marked with white mile points and small white arrows.

Without intending to cast too much doubt on course measuring I always felt that the 'miles' were short – we now measure using assumed shortest route whereas perhaps when it was originally marked the techniques were different.

Start South Esplande – heading North.

   Take 'shopfront' route past picket house and then left up Cornet St.

Hauteville, Les Vardes, Havilland Rd, Havilland Vale, Les Traudes – St. Martins Church.

Run against 1 way to emerge on La Grande Rue, Turn left then immediately right onto Rue Maze.

   2 Mile point is appx. 100M after entering Rue Maze.

Stay on main Road(s) Past Airport

   4 Mile point – opposite to Forest School 

Left past Mallard('New Road') then Rue Du Manoir etc. to Torteval Church.

   5 mile point – at junction with minor road “Chemin de L'Eglise”  

   6 Mile point – near T junction with Rue Des Simons.

Right past Church on Rue Du Belle, Left onto Rue de la Bellee then immediately right  up Rue de la Planque towards Les Sages.

Onto main Les Sages Road, which dips down before rising towards St Peters Church (becomes Rue de L'Eglise)

    7 Mile point about 100M past lowest point of dip.

Turn left onto Rue de Longfrie (to go behind the Longfrie) then cross over Route de Paysons onto Rue St. Pierre, Route de Domaines, Sous L'Eglise turning right at top of Neuf Chemin onto Les Buttes. Past St. Saviours Ch.

Keep on main roads all the way towards Les Vauxbelets (Les Buttes, Les Prevosts, Des Houguets, Route de L'Issue).

    10 Mile point where minor road “Routte Des Vauxbelets” meets Le Bouillion (i.e. where you can first see little Chapel)

keep on main roads (Frairies, St Andre) then turn left past St. Andrews Ch. onto L'Ecluse).

     11 Mile point at end of Lecluse/Monnaie)

Climb Rue de Monnaie (past Doylies house) and turn left at top on main road towards Catel Ch.

down Rectory Hill, through Friquets, turn right at junction with Rue Cohu onto Landes Du Marche.

      13 Mile point nr. Shiloh Ch. (opp Verte Rue).

Main Roads Camp du Roi, Petites Capelles Grandes Fort. past Corbet Field then left Route Carre, Right Sandy Hook to emerge on coast road nr. Vale pond.

Past Vale Church

     15 mile point as you pass first gravestone.

Right then left into Ville Baudu, Baugy, Maritaine towards Vale School but turning right just before you get there onto Route Des Coutures which descends towards Silverline/Vale Garage cross road.

    16 mile point at turning onto Coutures.

Straight through onto Vale Av. then onto Bridge, South Side, turn right onto Church Road towards Potters Corner, Grandes Maisons.

    17 mile point nr junction with Mt Morin

Keep on Grandes Maisons rd until Richmond Corner then onto Sea front and then back into town.       

    18 Mile point just past Ian Browns Cycle Shop.

     19 miles opp States Offices/North Plantation

Follow seaward route and back to where you started.  Approx 19.6 Miles.
