On a day when times were slowed by a moderate headwind along the length of the course Rachel Eeles had the run of the day to place first woman and 7th overall.
In what was scheduled as a practice race in her preparation for the Island Games triathlon Eeles had started quickly but none the less hung on to finish just behind Paul Hooker in a time of 42 minutes 7 seconds - a good performance in the surprisingly slow conditions. Lyn Mahy was second woman a further 2 minures behind.
At the head of the field Steve Dawes accompanied Mike Doyle and Paul Ingrouille for the first 2 miles before comfortably moving clear to win by nearly 90 seconds in 35minutes 40 seconds. Doyle pressed on well and after taking the initiative perhaps deserved to get the better of Ingrouille but with both runners slowing over the last quarter of the race the more experienced veteran was able to get the better of Sark's Island Games hopeful in the sprint for the line.
