Pleinmont is not ideal venue for staging running events when the area is subjected to a gale force south west wind and only nineteen runners braved the conditions to compete in the GIAAC¹s five mile cross country event which was staged over a two lap course.
Despite going off course early in the race Chris Carre continued his good form and after correcting himself drew clear within the opening mile and extended his lead throughout the race to post a ninety second triumph over Gordon Mercier.
Mercier took to the conditions well and posted a deserved victory over his old adversary Pete Wickins.
Jenny Elliott, the only female competitor placed 14th.
