GIAAC 10 Mile Road Race
Imperial to L'Ancresse Bus Terminus
28th April 2002

After a three month rest from competition Nick Despres returned with a bang to post two victories at the tail end of the GIAAC's winter season. (see also 5th May)

With a lull in major competitions many runners have chosen to take a break from racing but in each event Despres' major challenge also came from runners returning to form.

In the 10 Mile Road race run from Pleinmont to L'Ancresse Despres was kept company by Francis Kehoe for the first 7 miles before he drew clear in the 8th mile to win by 20 seconds in a time of 57 minutes 34 seconds. Gordon Mercier was a distant third.

With the 'Race for Life' and Healthspan Half Marathon looming the field was bolstered by a large contingent of woman runners using the race as groundwork.
