In the week where he learned of his selection to the Island Games squad Nick Despres rounded of the GIAAC Jones and Partners Winter League with another victory to complete a clean sweep of this seasonšs league races.
The mile course, held along the Vazon coast road, can often turn up a surprise result as the longer distance specialists meet the track runners over middle ground but with few of the shorter distance specialists choosing to run Despres' strongest challenge came from one of the men he may meet over the Half Marathon in the Isle of Man. A fast start by Mike Doyle, a Sark selection, initially tested Despres but after fading during the middle stages of the race Doyle was passed by Des Torrance and then Colin Ozanne.
Ozannešs consistency paid dividends as he moved up to second place in the leaguešs top table.
Despite only finishing third of the division two runners Pete De Bertrand cemented his position at the top of the table. His closest challenger, Tom Oliver, finished one place behind.
In a similar fashion Paul Davies and Gary Allen sealed their respective positions at the top of division three and four by finishing clear of their nearest challengers, Colin Guilmoto and Chris De La Mare.
Having already sealed division 5 Nicolle Inder chose to miss the race to compete in the Paris Marathon.
