Back on local soil, there were some excellent times posted in Sunday’s 5k road race from L’Eree to Vazon.

Paul Cherry’s 18 minutes 12 seconds gave him victory over Eddie Higgins by half a minute, with Robbie Froome third, also finishing under 19 minutes.

Debbie Doherty, who arguably had had the best race of the previous day’s senior efforts, led the women home with a storming 20.37. Jenny Elliott was second and Regina Williams, more noted for her track and field exploits in sprinting, was third.
